Another Chap Roz alum is celebrating a birthday today - Austrian born/Brighton raised B.H. Maverick.
Those of you not well versed in B.H. Maverick's history may not know that he originally went by "The Maverick" when he fronted a band called The's Torn Pages. He eventually gave up fighting the booking agents failure to get the band's name right, and he legally changed his name from "The" to B.H. In honor of this special day I wanted to post this Maverick drum solo - while it's from The's Torn Pages, it's evocative of his later work with Chap Roz, particularly his solo on "Pour Me Six Shots."
What's even more amazing is that I was able to find this old home movie of Maverick playing drums at only 19 months! While perhaps not a prodigy, observant viewers will pick up the beginnings of his stylistic approach to rhythmic percussion fully developed in his contemporary solos.
Have a great day, B.H.!
